Private door-to-door transfers both directions between Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Banner Elk, North Carolina — 110 mi, 2-2.5 hrs
Banner Elk is the ski-country hub for Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain and Elk River, and CLT is the biggest hub in the Carolinas and the airport most of our High Country guests fly through. The run between them is 110 mi of mountain and interstate driving — 2-2.5 hrs behind the wheel, longer in winter weather or holiday traffic. We drive it both ways, every week, in a private vehicle reserved for your party alone. No shared vans, no waiting for other passengers, no meter.
Send us your flight number and we watch it. Your chauffeur is waiting when you land at CLT — delayed, early, or right on time — and helps with every bag. Then it's a quiet 2-2.5 hrs ride to your door in Banner Elk while you finally stop travelling.
We work backward from your boarding time and pick up at your door in Banner Elk, with buffer built in for weather and construction on the 110 mi route. You arrive at CLT unhurried, with no parking deck to remember and no rental car to return.
Most guests book both legs together — the arrival and the departure — on a single reservation. Same driver where we can manage it, same vehicle class, one confirmation, nothing to re-explain on the way home.

As soon as your flights are set. Thanksgiving week and the stretch from mid-December through New Year's are the busiest airport travel days of our year, and the most popular pickup times go first. Your ride is reserved once it is booked and prepaid.
Our drivers work these mountain roads year-round. We watch the forecast ahead of holiday travel days, build extra time into airport departures, and stay in touch with you if weather changes the timing. If your flight is delayed or canceled, there is never an extra fee; we work with you to reschedule.

Most people compare a private transfer against the price of parking alone. That is not the real comparison. Here is a trip we quoted recently — two travellers, 13 days away, leaving from the High Country and flying out of Charlotte Douglas (CLT).
| Airport parking, 13 days — CLT Long Term 1 or 2 at $14/day, pre-booked online | $182 |
| Fuel for the round trip, about 240 miles at $3.78/gal | ~$41 |
| What those miles cost your vehicle besides fuel — tires, brakes, oil, depreciation (IRS 2026 rate, 76¢/mile, less fuel) | ~$141 |
| Total to drive yourself and park | ~$364 |
| Your own driving time | 4–5 hrs |
Now compare that with a private round-trip transfer quote for the same dates — on longer trips the gap is usually much smaller than people expect. And that $364 assumes you booked parking online in advance; drive-up parking at the Daily North lot is $18/day, which puts the drive-yourself total closer to $416.
What the spreadsheet does not capture is the return. You land at CLT at 10 p.m. after a delayed connection, walk out to a lot, and start a two-and-a-half-hour drive up the mountain. That is the part people tell us afterward they would have paid to skip.
Parking rates are CLT's published maximum daily rates effective March 1, 2026. Fuel figured at the North Carolina average and roughly 22 mpg. Vehicle cost per mile uses the IRS 2026 standard mileage rate of 76¢. Shorter trips change the math — a three-day trip genuinely is cheaper to drive. Ask us and we will run your actual dates honestly.
